EVENTS & PROJECTS

At Orange Banana Art I don't beleive creativity stops when you put your brushes down and step out of the door. I jump at any opportunity to keep the creative juices flowing off the page and screen. I have been lucky enough to have been invited on board a number of creative projects since starting Orange Banana and look forward to many more. I have had fulfiled many roles from Art Direction in film to event design and coordination. Keep on scrolling to see what I get up to when I'm not in the studio doodling. RY JONES "FREQUENCY"

RELEASE DATE TBC - @RYJONESMUSIC

Summer 2019 saw a the coming together of art, music and dance through the creaiton of a short film "Frequency" to accompany the song by Ry Jones of the same name. Together we developed and excecuted a short film concept around the theme of distortion. My role in this involved working with the dancers to create an abstract body paint texture that will feature heavily, as well as working with the film team to advise on shots and lighting choices to best convey the themes of distortion while maximising the painted texture and movement of the dancers.

"I can genuinely say it was an absolute pleasure  to be able to work with Penelope (Orange Banana Art), her balance in critical discussion, abstract creativity, articulation of meaning  within her ideas and raw talent makes everything get elevated to a higher standard. Her eye for expression and artistic flare was perfect in supporting and complimenting the team"

HARRIET ROBERTS

"PORTRAITS OF THE COLOUR RED"/ MENSTROLOGY

INITIAL EVENT 25TH JULY 2019 - MORE EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS TO FOLLOW SOON, VIA @HARRIETROBERTSDANCE

"Portraits of the Colour Red" London, Summer 2019, was the first in a series of ongoing work by Harriet Roberts (international contemporary dance practitioner and choreographer). This event and ongoing project has been designed to honour and explore the topic of the menstual cycle, the intention is to represent the changing qualities of woman through her moon and life. To share information about the cyclical process of our bodies and self through dance, art and conversation.

Together Harriet and I developed a range of educational material to help convey a range of 'lost' information about the mestrual cycle. This includes a large scale table showing the four stages or 'seasons' of the cycle with sections showing the hormonal cycle as well as the moods and art/literary links to each area. I also encorperated illustrations by fellow artist @Djoinna into this work. I then used this to create a second poster (key) to help get the most from the first, larger work. As well as a handout that involved a cycle tracker as well as a scaled down version of the larger work on display.

Today we continue to devlop art and resources together for her ongoing projects that link to our bodies and mestrual cycles.

"For 'Portraits of the Colour Red' I had a very clear vision for written, visual and graphic art. I don't personally have the ability to create what I saw in my head, by explaining and passing my vision to Penelope (Orange Banana Art) I was able to see it come to life. The work ultimately excelled my expectations, delivering both clear and beautiful information to the audience of my event, fitting the space aesthetically and fulfilling the informative purpose.

Communication with Penelope was comfortable and clear, I was free to give feedback and alterations. I felt her enter my concept and idea, she did a lot of research about the topic and got to know it herself, this was deeply appreciated. I will use her work again and again, reccomending to fellow artists and creators."
