Orange Banana is a one-woman creative powerhouse run by Penelope Halling (@Penelope_Orangebanana), based in South West London, UK.
Art & creativity have always been a huge part of her life, being raised by her brush toting, paint slinging, sign painting father. After graduating from the University of Roehampton in 2017 with a BA in Literature and History, and a Postgraduate Qualification in Creative Writing, she decided it was time to dive into visual creativity once more, and has been working as a self-taught freelance artist, illustrator and creative since then.
Orange Banana is fun, colourful and minimalist, working both digitally (using procreate and affinity designer) and by hand using watercolour & ink, acrylic and enamel. Her digital and analogue work has been influenced over the years by sign painting and lettering, tattoo line art and dot work (she designs all of her own tattoos) as well as being part of a wider group of creatives (artists, dancers and musicians) that work closely on many projects and feed into her work.
Catch Orange Banana’s latest collection - Faces of Isolation – at the OSO Arts Centre, Barnes (currently part of an online exhibition, gallery show date tbc).
